Epoxy asphalt concrete bridge pavement applied to steel deck suspension bridges in Korea has been constructed since it was first introduced in 2013, with three using U.S.-made binders and one using Chinese-made binders. Although domestic steel structure engineers were worried about durability due to the 5 cm thickness of the bridge pavement, it was spot-lighted as an economic method in terms of reducing the dead load of the structure. Epoxy asphalt concrete bridge pavement, which was constructed for the first time in Korea, is made in China. Five months after the completion of the bridge, serious paving damage occurred, and the entire bridge was removed, and the bridge was re-constructed as a Chinese products in 2014. However, it was damaged again, so we have been re-paving it after cutting it with other paving materials since 2018. The American epoxy asphalt concrete bridge pavement was paved with suspension bridges in 2015 and re-paved with other paving materials in 2019 due to aggregate detaching after four years in service. Two suspension bridges paved in 2015 and 2018 with epoxy asphalt concrete bridge pavement, a U.S. product, are currently in public service without any problems. In this study, we would like to analyze the problems of epoxy asphalt concrete bridge pavement, which was introduced for the first time in Korea, and the case of early damage. In addition, we would like to analyze the characteristics of epoxy asphalt concrete bridge pavement, which is an American product, and suggest a plan to be constructed with excellent quality in Korea in the future based on accumulated experience.
