Abstract

The Vietnam is extensively investing its budget in expanding national infrastructure of road constructions to promote region-to-region economic exchanges. However, early failures in the asphalt pavement are frequently occurred because of inappropriate materials and low paving skill that are not reflected climate, traffic loading and construction conditions in Vietnam. The Vietnam government reviewed the use of warm-mix asphalt (WMA) technology in order to improve asphalt pavement condition as well as to reduce the emissions during the asphalt paving process. In this study, the customized WMA technology for Vietnam is optimized based on the Korean WMA technology and demonstrated in Hanoi region, Vietnam. Based on the limited test results in the laboratory and field, it would be postulated that optimized WMA technology is suitable for Vietnamese road condition.
