To utilize the steel slag aggregates on manufacturing low-noise asphalt pavement, volumetric test on the general mineral aggregates and steel slag aggregates, the acoustic absorption test on the two types of mixture, and the roadway noise test on the two types of asphalt pavements were conducted. The study found that the steel slag aggregates have approximately double air voids than the general mineral aggregates, the steel slag asphalt mixture have 9% higher acoustic absorption capacity, and the steel slag asphalt pavement reduces 10 dB roadway noise. Consequently, the steel slag aggregates are more suitalbe for manufacturing the low-noise asphalt pavement.
