Abstract
Polymer solutions were obtained in which polyurethane(PU) was dissolved in dimethylformamide. Asphalt was modified with these solutions. PU-modified asphalt showed 1.26 MPa of tensile strength that is increased by 78% comparing to that of straight asphalt. Self-healing efficiency of PU-modified asphalt based on tensile strength showed 106% which means better healing ability comparing to 73% of straight asphalt. In rheological experiment PU-modified asphalt showed 1.48 MPa of complex modulus that is increased by 54% comparing to that of straight asphalt. Self-healing efficiency of PU-modified asphalt upon complex modulus showed 80% which means better healing ability comparing to 63% of straight asphalt. In impact experiment PU- modified asphalt showed 3.37 J/m of impact strength that is increased by 21% compai'ing to that of straight asphalt. Self-healing efficiency of PU-modified asphalt upon impact strength showed 80% which means better healing ability comparing to 62% of straight asphalt. The difference among three values of self-healing efficiency is probably due to the fact that less human interference is involved in rheological experiment.
