Development of the construction method of surface recycling for warm in-place asphalt recycling

Abstract

It was 100% recycled at the site of the old asphalt pavement by the Warm In-Place asphalt surface recycling method, and was analyzed and evaluated through test construction. Pre-heater and recyclers were developed for the construction. As a result of application, it was evaluated that it showed the asphalt rejuvenating effect by applying old asphalt pavement. If the viscosity of the recycled asphalt mixture is low, the rutting resistance is low, but the crack resistance can be higher than that of new asphalt pavement. If the asphalt content and air voids of the existing asphalt pavement are suitable, the total asphalt content may increase when the rejuvenator is mixed, thereby lowering the air voides after construction. Accordingly, countermeasures such as mixing new aggregates are needed.
