Information
Nominal Maximum Aggregate Size (NMAS) is the one of important parameters which affects mechanical properties of asphalt pavement both at low and high temperature conditions. It is well known that aggregates with NMAS 9.5 and 12.5 mm are mainly used for surface layer in asphalt pavement construction. Many studies were performed to evaluate the effect of different NMAS on field performance of asphalt pavement layer, however, little considerations were given to the evaluation of asphalt pavement material behavior under static and oscillatory loading conditions simultaneously. In this paper, total four different types of asphalt pavement material were prepared and then tested by means of two different mechanical tests: BBR (Bending Beam Rhe이neter) testa low temperature creep test, and DSR (Dynamic Shear Rheometer) test, a low temperature dynamic modulus test, to investigate the effect of different NMAS on asphalt mixture performance. As a result, significant differences on low and high temperature performance were observed with application of different aggregate NMAS: 9.5 and 12.5 mm, on asphalt mixture.
