This study evaluated the effect of anti-oxidant on retarding aging of asphalt mixture using the gel permeation chromatogram (GPC) technique. An anti-oxidant (AO) and hydrated lime (HL) were used when preparing the asphalt mixtures and the effect of aging retardation by the AO and HL was evaluated using GPC. The asphalt mixture was aged artificially in the laboratory in two stages; the short-term aging (STA) for one hour at 160°C and the long-term aging (LTA) for 65 hours at 110°C. It was found that the AO and HL were effective on retarding aging of asphalt mixture when the large molecular size ratio (LMS (%)) was compared before and after aging treatment. The aging levels estimated by absolute viscosity of AO-and-HL-added asphalt mixtures were found be a half of that of normal asphalt mixture without those additives.
